Mom has been living at the Hogar some years and I celebrate it daily. She did not want to at first, but with time, we realized it was the best decision. The first years she enjoyed them quite a lot, danced, sang, made jam. But, above all, she was never alone again. Always taken care of and loved. The Hogar is way more than (no matter how big the infrastructure we could have come up at home with) we could have given her. The respect she is treated with, in spite of her current decline, maintaining her overall dignity, it touches me! And I feel emotional while writing about it. If she could say something, she would say: “ What a pity I did not come here sooner!”
