Hogar Israelita of Uruguay

The Hogar Israelita is a residential community for Jewish older adults, providing personalized care, support, and comprehensive geriatric services designed to maximize each resident’s quality of life while promoting independence.

Founded in 1937 to provide a safe home for Jewish immigrants without family support, the Hogar Israelita has evolved over more than 85 years into a vibrant community where traditions and values are shared every day.

Living at the Hogar means living among your own community.

Today, 70% of our residents receive financial assistance to ensure they enjoy the highest possible quality of life. Solidarity and mutual support are at the heart of everything we do.

The institution is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors whose commitment to continuous improvement is reflected in a team of more than 120 professionals and volunteers, all dedicated to providing compassionate, respectful, and high-quality care.

The Hogar Israelita is accredited by Uruguay’s Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Social Development, and receives professional guidance from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC).

Today, the Hogar Israelita is recognized as a leading institution in elder care, both within the Jewish community and throughout Uruguay.
